Women and Children’s Health

OUR MISSION

Our committee focuses on assessing the most life-threatening issues affecting women and children, with a particular emphasis on obstetrics emergencies and supporting safe deliveries. We also prioritize children’s health, including nutrition, prenatal, postnatal, and neonatal care.

We address the needs of acute crises, including preventing severe acute malnutrition in children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Additionally, we galvanize support and resources to provide assistance and empower survivors of CRSV. This includes the distribution of dignity kits, obstetric and gynecologic support such as emergency birthing services, post-rape kits, sexual health education, and addressing CRSV in urban and rural areas.

Nutritional Initiatives in Tigray and Sudan

HPN4Tigray nutrition projects Maedot Feeding Program and Dollar-A-Day to Save-A-Child aim to decrease malnutrition rates and ensure adequate nourishment for all individuals, focusing on women, children, and vulnerable groups who are most susceptible to this issue. To achieve this goal, the initiative offers a range of interventions, including food fortification, supplementation programs, nutrition education, and food distribution programs.

HPN4Tigray is dedicated to the long-term planning and coordination of the comprehensive rehabilitation and restorative care for women and children in Tigray. Our mission is to ensure a sustainable impact through the development of sustainable food sources and the establishment of safe houses for those in need.

Recovery Through Outreach Project

in partnership with Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

The Recovery Through Outreach (RecTOR) Program, funded by HPN4Tigray, has identified Adi-Gudem and Mekoni hospitals as priority areas for a one-year outreach initiative. These two hospitals possess the necessary infrastructure to offer surgical procedures and neonatal admissions. The Program will deploy an obstetrician-gynecologist and a pediatrician on a 30-day rotating basis. This program aims to enhance the healthcare services provided in these areas, and also equip local healthcare professionals with essential skills and knowledge to ultimately improving maternal and neonatal care in the region.
